Wild

Wild City is an ongoing photographic project that explores how animals adapt to life in urban environments, with a particular focus on the impact of human behavior, especially the way the food we leave behind influences their habits. I began the series in 2018 with the pigeons of Venice, which have become unusually sociable due to constant contact with tourists: they perch on people’s shoulders or steal lunch directly from their hands. Since then, I have documented animals in cities across Italy and the United States—from raccoons drinking Coca-Cola in New York to roosters roaming freely in Key West, crowing whenever they please, day and night. Wild City offers a glimpse into the strange and often amusing ways animals live in cities, shaped by our habits and our leftovers.
